Welcome to City Schools! 

The New Teacher Summer Institute will be held virtually from August 9th through August 13th. Over the course of these five days, you’ll receive a lot of information regarding the upcoming school year, City Schools, and more. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to hear from district leadership and talk with your colleagues.

The theme this year is “We are Baltimore! We are City Schools! We are Educators!”

NTSI will feature engaging learning sessions, choice seminars, dynamic presenters and speakers, giveaways, opportunities to connect with fellow new teachers, break-out groups by grade and content and so much more.
Each day (from August 9-13) will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with plenty of time for breaks, optional dance blocks and a one hour lunch time. You will be paid a stipend for your participation. If you have any questions about this process or your pre-employment status, please email Human Capital.

NOTE: If you will be serving at a charter or contract school, please contact your principal regarding plans for new teacher induction, as many charter and contract schools provide their own distinct NTSI programming.

AM Session - Building a PreK Classroom
During this session, participants will explore the components of a developmentally appropriate Pre-K classroom including the environment, the daily schedule, and establishing rules, routines, and procedures. Additionally, participants will be introduced to the Early Learning Assessment (ELA).

PM Session - Literacy
During this session, participants will explore the Pre-K Literacy curriculum components.
